Directions for Working Cast on 36 stitches. Knit plain rows for 9 inches. (N.B. The first stitch should be slipped in each row after the first row). Cast off loosely. To Make Up Fold the cast-off edge over onto the cast-on edge and sew together for 2 inches from the wrong side. Then leave 2 inches unsewn to form an opening for the thumb. Join up the remaining piece. Then sew along the top."
