Repeat from the first round until the work is seventeen inches long.
Arrange the stitches so that there are eleven upon each of the back needles and twenty-six upon the centre or front needle. Decrease in every third round by taking together the last two stitches on the first needle and the first two stitches on the last needle, being careful that the pattern is worked correctly upon the front needle, although the spots will not always be correct at the back.
Decrease in this manner until the stitches are reduced to thirty in the round, then work without decreasing for fifteen inches.
Now increase in every third round in the same manner as you decreased until there are once more forty-eight stitches in the round. Work in the pattern for ten inches and cast off. Sew up the ends of the tie."
