An 1840 Bridal Dress

      WHITE satin robe, the border finished at the extremity by a broad bouillonnee [puffing] of the same; a robe of white filet de soie, worn over the silk dress and trimmed with a flounce of the same, is looped on each side of the front by knots of white ribbon; the corsage, half high, is trimmed with three falls of the material of the dress, disposed en coeur; and the demi long sleeve, arranged in bouillons, is finished by a ruffle of two falls. The hair, braided at the sides and arranged in a knot behind, is ornamented with a wreath formed of roses and orange blossoms and the bridal veil of filet de soie.
